A jam-packed Allen Park Civic Arena gave host Allen Park Cabrini a huge advantage on Saturday.
A crowd that was much larger than expected, according to Cabrini Coach Bill Alvis, helped propel the Monarchs to a 5-0 season opening win over Grand Rapids South Christian.
“Our kids really, really fed off the crowd,” Alvis said. “The crowd was bigger than years past. A lot of excitement and it really energized our kids.”
Tony Williams got the scoring started in the first, and Kyle Astalos (two assits) added a goal in the second.
