ALLEN PARK –– Leo Paluch Senior Apartments resident Lynda McIntyre said she feels more secure with the new steel door that separates the long public hallway from her room.
“These doors are harder to get into,” she said. “I could kick in the older doors.”
The city’s Housing Commission received $79,879 in federal stimulus money under the Public Housing Capital Fund to make improvements at the apartments, 17000 Champaign.
The first thing commission Executive Director Andrew Hill wanted to do was install the new doors.
“The new doors are actually going to do a significant service to the residents,” he said.
