The Southgate School District still has not provided any details for parents living in Allen Park on how their kids are supposed to get to Davidson Middle or Anderson High School, despite the fact that it’s a several mile walk crossing several major streets. This is a letter I wrote to the Davidson principal. Any reply received will be posted here as a follow up.
I was curious what is expected of a single parent living in Allen Park regarding getting their child to Davidson? It’s a 3.9 mile walk each way, and my work schedule has me leaving the house at 6:30 am every day and not arriving back until 5:00 pm. Any realistic suggestions?

I get here between 6:30 and 6:45 every morning. I know I have children who get dropped off at that time. If your child is an athlete, there are many practices that take place after school. If there are any other parents of children who either go to Davidson or Anderson, maybe you could set up car pool with them. When I lived in Taylor and for awhile they eliminated busing, my parents set up a car pool with other parents in the neighborhood and they worked out a schedule.
Sincerely,
