Finding the right ingredients to start a new business was a piece of cake for Chris Nordwall.

Last June, he launched a line of cake-flavored liqueurs under the label Piece of Cake Liqueur Co.

Nordwall said it all began with three friends chatting over cocktails and agreeing that it was time to invest their money into a new liquor brand concept.

“We mixed a couple of different liquors together and came up with a flavor that tasted like chocolate cake,” he said.

Within weeks, a recipe was produced, a company was created and a patent was pursued.

In April, out of approximately 300 entries, Piece of Cake’s Chocolate Cake Liqueur received a silver award in the tasting competition at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America’s 67th annual Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas in April.
