Two Republicans facing off for 8th District nod

In the Republican primary Aug. 3, voters in the state Senate’s 8th District will choose between two candidates: Douglas Reimel of Taylor and Ken Larkin of Lincoln Park.

The winner of the Republican primary will face off Nov. 2 against the winner of the Democratic primary, where three contenders are vying to represent that party.

On the Democratic ticket are Sherry Dragone and Hoon-Yung Hopgood, both of Taylor, and Michael Kell of Southgate.

The winner Nov. 2 will replace state Sen. Raymond Basham D-Taylor, who is term-limited out of office.

The 8thDistrict serves Allen Park, Ecorse, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, Riverview, Southgate, Taylor, Wyandotte and Wayne
