The jobs of eight employees in the school district were the last to be restored Monday, eliminating all of the district’s initial cuts.
The Board of Education recalled three teachers, four Title I teaching aides and a reading aide at Monday’s meeting. The vote was 6-0. Trustee Gordon Miller was absent.
In addition, eight jobs were approved: a paraprofessional, four coaches, the elementary and middle school band directors and a latchkey employee.
Finance Director Deborah Lee said the board approved the 2010-11 budget in June, based on an assumption that there would be a $300 cut per pupil in state aid.
The state school aid budget bill for the 2011 fiscal year was passed by the state House of Representatives and the Senate, and signed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm on July 9. The bill did not include the district’s assumed cut, allowing officials to rescind the original layoffs.
