The Downtown Development Authority is taking another step toward an improved business district and pedestrian-friendly community.
Philomene Boulevard, a one-way street between Allen Road and Roosevelt Avenue, will be converted to a two-way traffic flow. One-way traffic on Philomene will continue as is between Park Avenue and Allen Road.
The DDA also will make improvements to the city-owned parking lot behind PNC Bank and Ruby Tuesday Restaurant on Southfield Road by creating an enhanced walkway.
The City Council unanimously approved the DDA’s two proposals Aug. 10.
Wade Trim, a Taylor-based engineering, planning and surveying company, was approved to prepare the site plan, construction drawings and bid specifications for the walkway, not to exceed $10,000.
