Wayne County officials do not approve proposed money swap

Wayne County officials do not approve of a money swap proposal to help the city financially.

That’s according to Dennis Miller, the Downtown Development Authority’s attorney.

Miller said he spoke Thursday with a Wayne County attorney who said the proposal goes against the Michigan State DDA Act 197(1975).

City makes bond payment

City officials told the Downtown Development Authority on Tuesday they were able to meet the $1.1 million bond payment on the 104-acre property formerly known as the Allen Park Studio Center.

City officials were considering pulling money from the DDA and swapping those funds with restricted city funds to make the payment on the property.

ALLEN PARK: DDA may lose $100,000 from tax decrease

The Downtown Development Authority is projecting a loss of roughly $100,000 this year due to a drop in taxable revenue in its district.

City Assessor Paula Grivins-Jastifer delivered the news at a DDA meeting Thursday.

Grivins-Jastifer said the revenue is projected to decrease from the 2010 amount of $1.2 million to just under $1.1 million.
